Here's a fun game: Try to guess each episode as you scroll through. If you want post your guesses in the comments, check the list and post your reactions. (Except for Episode 6 because I honestly didn't bother with it XD)

Did you know there's a Part Two? [link]

So, if you are unaware, Netflix has recently put up some cartoon network shows going back to the good ol' 90's (Yep, I'm a 90's kid). First thing I went running for? You guessed it! Courage the Cowardly Dog! I remember I used to watch this show all the time as a kid. I honestly don't know why either. I usually don't do well with horror and I honestly think Courage was one of the only kid's shows to be a horror and actually pull it off. It had both kid and adult humor and you are a freaking two faced liar if you say that you never had a hard time sleeping or got nightmares from at least one of these episodes! So deliciously warped, quirky, and twisted.

I don't really know what got me to do this. I think I was working on something for one of my groups and I decided to take a break. I then proceeded to go through a courage marathon and challenged myself to spend the episode sketching out each villain in my own style and transforming the animal characters into gijinkas or their own human selves.

It should be noted that technically this is only 6 episodes (Each true episode has two parts to it) from the first season. Maybe for fun I might do another sketch marathon and do more of this, but for now enjoy:

Guide:

Courage the Cowardly Dog - This little doodle. Blame this little doodle for this entire monstrosity. The hair color came from the brown on his nose. I ended up changing it later simply because ...well ...it just doesn't fit Courage.

Episode 1: A Night at the Katz Motel - Oh Katz~ Even as a kid I couldn't resist that diabolical voice and that dark and jazzy theme music. One of the first villain's and one of the finest in my own opinion. I just love how he can be such a psychopath and a gentleman. Not to mention that scene where he emerges from the darkness: "You have no place to run ... and no place to hide ..." As for the spider on his shoulder ...I dunno. I felt his pets needed love too.

Episode 2: Cajun Granny Stew - I can't help but love that fox. Though I'll admit I don't like how his design came out (By the way, if you're wondering where the scarf came from, it was the one he was wearing on the plane). I'll also admit I'm a sucker for a smooth Cajun accent. A shame he only ever reappears once in the later episodes. Still, you gotta kind of enjoy how he interacts with Courage.

Episode 3: Shadow of Courage - There really isn't much you can do with just a shadow, so I decided to show Muriel and Eustace some love for this episode with the shadow just kinda hanging around in the back. I'm kinda proud how Eustace came out. By the by, their skin color was taken from screen shots so don't blame me if it looks weird.

Episode 4: Dr. Le Quack, Amnesia Specialist - Oddly I never really enjoyed Le Quack that much. He's a recurring character in the show and he's kind of a badass when you consider how diabolical he can be and the hell he can raise out of greed. For some reason though ...meh. But, after doodling up his design, I kinda saw the ending scene of the episode in a whole new light.

Episode 5: Courage Meets Bigfoot - One of the rare episodes where the monster is actually friendly. Bigfoot was a kind of sweethearted episode that tends to pull a smile out of you just watching him and Courage playing together. By the way, is it just me or does the old lady kinda remind you of Eustace's mother?

Episode 6: Hothead - I didn't really bother with this one because it was an episode featuring Eustace. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Eustace and a lot of Courage's antics to try and make the world's most wrathful person stay calm and collected, but I had already done Eustace and I was still kinda giggling from the scene in Episode 4 when Computer is helping him out as always.

Episode 7: Demon in the Mattress - It's corny and cheezy, but I still laughed at the demons' scare tactic with the tea. Overall, though, I actually had more fun drawing the rats than I did demonic Muriel.

Episode 8: Freaky Fred - Dusk can vouch for this. I was in the middle of chatting about Freaky Fred and sketching when this episode popped up. To this day, I have to say Fred was the most terrifying villain for me. Overall, he was actually the least harmful, only shaving Courage. But everything about him was horrifying, but in a fascinating and intriguing way. He's the one that gives me the most creeps, but may ironically be one of my top Courage villains, if not already my number 1. When I was younger I remember I had convinced myself of this idea that Fred was a serial killer with a hair fetish and to this day the idea strangely fits him. He does gain 20 more disturbing points, though, with Courage as a human when you consider his clothes are based off of his fur. But seriously, you have no idea how much time I wasted drawing and redrawing that iconic, devilish, creepy ass grin of his!

Episode 9: The Duck Brothers - Green was always my favorite. I usually always chose the red guy because ...well ...that's my favorite color. But if only for when they were fighting Courage, this one became my favorite of the triplets. If you couldn't tell, this episode was pretty easy to doodle up.

Episode 10: Shirley the Medium - Finally! Another girl! And not just any girl, either! Shirley was one of those side characters I always found rather loveable in her own way so I was kinda glad her design turned out at least decent.

Episode 11: Night of the Weremole - "The things I do for love." Seriously, gotta give Courage kudos for that one. Not many people would put themselves in a bunny suit so they could be attacked by a weremole. I kinda wanted to do the doctor too, but I ran out of time and I couldn't resist doodling up Corage in that bunny costume. Do ya blame me?

Episode 12: Mother's Day - I never enjoyed Eustace's mother. Not even in that love-to-hate way. But I did kinda like this episode if only for the fact it is one of the few episodes you actually see Eustace and Courage kinda bond and actually interact on a level that's more than just Eustace abusing the poor little guy. It's another reason I enjoy the Demon in the Mattress episode. But honestly I don't blame the woman. Who can't help but love that adorable little pup?

---

I still love the show as much as I did as a kid, as embarrassingly childish as that actually sounds, but I'll admit I found it rather interesting to listen to the show and imagine the villains and courage himself in this new light and with these new forms and actually made some scenes almost badass while others more silly. Obviously this is mostly just because of my own imagination, but still the excercise was fun and kinda made the show have something new to it with that good old nostalgia for me to pick me up.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy and I hope I didn't butcher anyone's favorite villain(s) D8

---

I do not own Courage the Cowardly Dog, obviously. But, if you do use my rendition of any of these characters, would you kindly reference me and not be an art thief? And honestly: Link me so I can see 8D. Not that I see anyone using these abominations of beloved characters but still
